@Adrianlunnon Well sometimes u hav 2 think.A Sudoku’s made of 9 rows columns and mini-grids and 81 cells.R there sum mini-grids where u r sure that a certain number must be in a certain row in the mini-grid, but u dont no what cell its in?Since that number *must* be in that row in the mini-grid, u can eliminate that number in all other cells in that row as a possibility. That helps too.
HAHAHAHA The first time I wrote an Excel macro to solve sudoku, this is what I did. Found out later that it doesn’t solve all puzzles. This is a beginner’s method.
i stopped watching at “go to microsoft excel and make a grid like this”…uh…no…
i will stick with crosswords. suduko are boring cuz anyone who can see can solve them. now this made it even more boring.
whats up with box 4, you missed the 9, SCAM!
eh you can find better descriptions than this, try something like a-how.com/archives/247 for a good description (with pictures!) of solving Sudokus
puzzel
I discovered this trick on my own when playing Sudoku, but as somebody else said, this method doesn’t always solve the puzzle and extra thinking will be required. Some puzzles require extra “assumption” to solve, exercising your memory. Say you have an entry where you are stuck with only two possible choices. You assume that one is true and work to try and find a contradiction. Do this without writing any entries down or else you may forget which entries were and weren’t correct.
This technique would take so long it wouldn’t even make sudoku fun. And it won’t work for most of the puzzles you try to solve. I’m sticking to my better methods.
I kinda do the same thing in my head….
your trick for solving robiks cube would be taking a hammer and then putting it back together
takes the fun out of it… might as well use the cheat on the back with all the numbers already filled in.. that would be faster…
I find using this method a waste of time. I could solve it much faster without using this method at all.
Was this an excel trick or something? wouldn’t mind having that file and all it’s fucked up formulas.
It works, but that’s like using helping wheels
Not new to me. I already had been solving level 5 and 6 sudoku puzzles using the Microsoft Excel. Well, you could really use the same technique using pencil on the Sudoku puzzle.
This should be called reverse sudoku.
How about a technique that doesn’t require a computer. Im too lazy to do all of that. Pure brain power is more impressive.
Use -iseedeadpeople and warpten
there is three methods to solve a suduko
- a number can only be in ONE spot in a row
- a number can only be in ONE spot in a box(fastest)
- this method(takes to mutch time)
but in harder sukokus (none of the methods work all the time)
- se if one or all numbers can“t be in a emty spots in a row or a box.
that is how really solve ANY suduku.
i prefer kakuro -> mutch harder.
thank you
I would call this method: how to take an eternity solving something that would have taken you five minutes. ^_^
@Vabzy No problem:)
@NoLegsOnTheBed Oh so true…..I must have had the math notion from a previous argument still lingering in my mind. I apologise.
@Vabzy then why did you say “who wants to use artificial intel to solve sudoku.. how does that improve your math skills???” and if you read what I wrote I never said sudoku was about math but logical thinking.
